July 6
We attended two lectures and then had a tour of the National History Museum. Saw artifacts of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro, the Maurya Dynasty AND one of Asoka's Rock Edicts! Saw artifacts from the Gupta Golden age and a lot more. Saw an entourage accompanying the BJP party candidate to the museum for whom we were all kicked out. The official day was over and we Americans hit the subway on our own for Old Delhi. The pictures probably speak for themselves. We depend on our two men, and young Dennis is a hero as he came across the crazy traffic to bring me and Gene back by the hand across the traffic from the Red Fort. It was INDIA!!!! I loved it. Yes, I am pretty much always scared, but at the same time drinking it in. Visualize yourself there smelling sandalwood and much more:). Okay, also imagine a couple of rats eating trash in the gutter and monkeys and parrots on the roof tops.

I am just so impressed by your sense of adventure! I, for one, would love to see monkeys on the rooftops. I could do without the rats, however!
